Maha Shivaratri – Dance Festival – Great night of Shiva

Every year the Hindu Maha Shivaratri dance festival is celebrated, in honour of Shiva. We enjoy this night as lots of small celebrations take place honouring Shiva, The Lord of the Dance in Hindu temples throughout Rishikesh.

We stay very close to the temple Lakshman Jhula square which hosts a vibrant celebration of colour and sound. This year devotees and the colourful sangha of the Brazilian spiritual teacher Prem Baba sang devotional songs to Lord Shiva and in the evening all were treated to an excellent show by the local entertainers.
