Our Cotton Conscious tailor made us aware of the amazing organization that is the Mother Miracle School in Rishikesh. Founder and President Shahla Ettefagh “a woman on a mission” has roughly 3,000 children from the poverty-stricken slums of Rishikesh, queuing to take the entrance exam. Only a 100 gifted students can be accepted for a place in the school.

Mother Miracle is a registered non-profit in the United States and India dedicated to empowering children from the slums of Rishikesh, India to reach their highest potential. Upon graduating from their K-12 school, they provide University scholarships & job placement assistance to enable students to give back to their community by helping their families, and by sponsoring a new child in the school; thus breaking the cycle of poverty. They further serve the community by providing free computer courses for young adults & vocational training for women.

This community development programme makes it extremely easy to help these children in need. You can sponsor a child for $50 per month or $600 per year, donate, volunteer, shop gifts and spread the word.

BAKING FOR A CAUSE

OH YES, If you are ever in Rishikesh, you must visit the new MOTHER MIRACLE BAKERY and coffee shop which serves visitors, award-winning cakes and donates 100% of profits to the school.

The bakery also provides the students with a free, freshly baked breakfast and a glass of warm milk every day before school. “Bahut Tasty” (Very Tasty)
